http://community.climatedeal.org/questions/444/is-the-eu-on-track-to-meet-its-2020-targetIs the EU on track to meet its 2020 target ?Maria Rim2010-02-22T17:14:34Z2010-02-22T17:14:34Z

Today reading the environmental finance web news (http://www.environmental-finance.com/onlinews/0218ewe.html) about whether Europe was on track to meet its 2020 target, I though this statement was a bit optimistic and un-realistic for now at least. Specially when the leading country (Spain with 22.7% of its target) is under a profound crisis and lacks the incentive schemes to foster the growth of renewable energy.

Do you think the statement is realistic ?

http://community.climatedeal.org/questions/22/is-there-any-specialised-insurance-for-renewable-energy-projectsIs there any specialised insurance for renewable energy projects? Noel2009-09-29T17:29:37Z2010-02-17T19:11:12Z

Renewable energy projects face important implementation barriers. One of them is the ability of project developers in developing countries to access proper insurance services that consider the particular risks to which this projects are subject, including the typical country risks.

http://community.climatedeal.org/questions/40/cheap-sources-of-income-during-a-low-carbon-transition-where-will-they-come-fromCheap sources of income during a low-carbon transition, where will they come from, solar panels? unlikely andresbucio2009-10-07T11:13:51Z2010-01-10T15:26:13Z

Incomes generated in the oil era were the result of cheap access to oil. This is how the subsistence model of preindustrial agricultural societies was abandoned. We now begin to learn that 'business profitability' is also an oil-dependent delusion. In the end its all about fuelling every activity with cheap energy, no business ‘profitability’ escapes this all to often invisible fact. An important development to understand is this. From the moment governments commit to a transition to a low-carbon economy, what is going to replace government's or anybody else’s for that matter, sources of income? Will solar panels provide that income? unlikely. Will our definition of income have to change? Perhaps. Unravelling this matter is perhaps the fundamental economic problem of the so called low-carbon economy transition. I wonder what people in this forum have been making out of this issue.

http://community.climatedeal.org/questions/72/what-financing-opportunities-do-biodiesel-projects-haveWhat financing opportunities do biodiesel projects have ? John2009-10-26T20:25:14Z2009-12-06T23:05:45Z

Biodiesel project developers have been waiting for a long time for some framework to help finance these kind of projects. However, except private investors not much has been made available.

Does anyone has advice on how to finance these kind of projects ?

If someone knows any scheme to work specifically with African countries such as Madagascar or South Africa, I would be extremely pleased.
