I use my own OpenID, because I'd prefer not to be dependent on a particular provider. (Of course, my website just delegates to somewhere else, with a single line in the section.)

For some reason, climatedeal.org has disabled login using arbitrary OpenIDs. (It's enabled by default in the StackExchange software -- I help run another such site, so I know how this works.) This makes me sad! Is there a reason for this? Could you restore the URL field, perhaps below the icons for the "big" providers?

btw -- over at mathoverflow.net, another StackExchange site, we've explicitly forbidden "meta" questions on the main site, and started a parallel forum for these. We think it's been very effective, both in maintaining the quality of discussion on the main site, and building dedicated community. – Scott Morrison Jan 10 at 22:20
Hi Scott, climatedeal.org hasn´t disabled any login really. We are happy for users to use any openID. We will look into it as soon as possible. With regards to the meta suggestion, it is a good idea indeed. Thanks for your feedback :) ! – Luis Jan 10 at 22:34

In fact the option is available, but it is was hidden. A workaround existed but is now no longer relevant.
